Code MENT

Code MENT is an…abridged series based on Code Geass. Although ‘abridged’ is probably not the best word to use, since it goes completely off the rails and is nothing like SAO Abridged. It’s so crazy that it inspired a sub-genre of abridged series called MENTs or abridgeMENTs.
It was created by PurpleEyesWTF, whose channel suddenly disappeared one day because, apparently, he deleted it in a COVID-fueled fever dream. Code MENT has been archived entirely by a guy (with Purple’s permission), so that’s nice. The archive channel also includes a remastered version of Code MENT, made by the archiver. It’s actively being released.A)

Review

I don’t really know what I could say, so I’ll just say that it’s funny, but can be cringe-y. Nevermind, I re-watched the entire series recently. The jokes get better over time, but there are still more good jokes than there are cringe-y ones. Some of the jokes in MENT went on to become more general memes that most people probably don’t know came from here…I was shocked when I saw the scene. If you know, you know.
What makes Code MENT interesting in particular is that there’s an actual plot here…that fits together. The characterization of, get this, characters remains consistent throughout. All this just adds to the comedy - especially since some jokes are dependent upon continuity.

A) Besides remastering and archiving, he’s also making his own series on Clannad, which I won’t watch, because I want to play Clannad first.
