The Alliance is a military alliance in the world of Warcraft, originally created during the second war by the Kingdom of Lordaeron. Following the destruction of the Kingdom of Lordaeron, the Alliance leadership was taken over by Stormwind.
The Alliance is also really dumb. Their stupidity is so great that it results in severe world-building issues.
I alluded to it before, but the main problem with the Alliance (as they are written) is that they fundamentally lack one of the most basic qualities that any intelligent species should possess: pattern recognition.
For basically the last three or four decades, the Alliance has been in a near-perpetual state of war with The Horde. And yet they only considered a complete annihilation of the Horde…once, after the Second War.
And what’s more is that the Horde is responsible for most of the wars that occur between the two sides. Plus the Horde’s sub-factions engage in super dubious stuff constantly.
More may be written in the future.
In The Frozen Throne’s bonus campaign…the story involves Admiral Proudmoore discovering the Horde next to Theramore…and he then takes control of the city, with the intent to eliminate the Horde. The player (as Rexxar) helps Jaina assassinate her father to prevent a war with the Horde.
She does this because she believes that peace is possible between the Alliance and Horde.
…
So it’s pretty tragic that much later, Jaina is proven wrong by the Horde’s actions. And she consequently becomes one of the most gung-ho anti-Horde people either.
Tragic.
