 アニメ is an animation medium from Japan. The term itself has a pretty vague definition, so I'm relying on [[https://anidb.net|aniDB]]'s [[https://wiki.anidb.net/AniDB_Definition:Anime|definition]], just that I don't consider animation from Korea or China to be 'anime'.((:fn:>This is because 'anime' was originally used to distinguish //Japanese// animation from Western animation, so expanding the term outside of Japan would only water it down.))
 Anime separates itself from Western animation in several ways...but attempting to describe the differences comes off as pretentious, so I won't bother.
