+<dfn>Eurobeat</dfn> is a genre((:fn:>Let's not overthink this for now.)) of music that originated in Italy. Apparently, its original purpose was just to speed up ItaloDisco.((:fn:>ItaloDisco being a separate-ish genre of music, which I've heard a little...and it's basically just slow Eurobeat.)) Eurobeat then, inexplicably, became popular in Japan.
+Following this, the Italians decided that it was most reasonable to market almost exclusively to the Japanese. So the majority of Eurobeat out there was created by Italians for the Japanese. This is also why Avex, a Japanese record company, somehow produced a bunch of albums with Italians.
+This is also why the rights to basically all Eurobeat is owned by Avex...despite Eurobeat being made by Italians.
+There's also a related genre called [[lb:hyper.techno]] which is...something.

+===== Appeal =====
+Eurobeat's appeal is easily summarized: Eurobeat is possibly the most internally cohesive musical genre ever. All Eurobeat songs sound similar to each-other, whilst remaining distinct. The songs all fit together in a way that makes it easy to go from one to another without pausing, or without it feeling like you're jumping from one to the next.((:fn:>It is more complicated than that of course, because you //can// differentiate songs from each-other. The point is more that on a ‘vibes’ level, all Eurobeat feels ‘related’, which grants a huge advantage to the genre and all the artists producing for it.))
+Because of how similar Eurobeat songs are to each-other, it's actually really easy to find new songs without sticking to just one artist. And if you're a fan of ‘Eurobeat’ then you're unlikely to be sticking to just one particular artist. So there's an endless well of Eurobeat to discover and listen to.
+Putting aside those more meta notes...Eurobeat is also very high-energy, so if you're into that...it just makes you feel all good and happy. I think that only [[lb:s3rl]] rouses similar feelings of positivity. At least in me.

+This is mostly a hypothesis on my end, so take this with a grain of salt. But yes, I will be treating it like a conspiracy theory.
+In the West, Eurobeat is primarily associated with racing, cars, street-racing and, of course, <cite>Initial**//D//**</cite>. However, this is not the case in Japan. The association definitely exists, but it isn't as strong as...
+**[[lb:gyaru]]** and **[[lb:parapara]]**.
+I think this mostly has to do with ParaPara, which itself was liked by Gyaru...and the fact there were prominent dance clubs in Japan which were focused entirely around Eurobeat.

+This association becomes somewhat obvious when you start factoring in:
+  * Songs, which inexplicably reference ParaPara and Gyaru with some degree of frequency.((:fn:><cite>Money Money</cite>, <cite>Ganguro</cite>, <cite>Hello Hello</cite>.))((:fn:>Popteen (formerly a major Gyaru magazine) has a Eurobeat themesong called <cite>Popteen</cite>.))
+  * Songs which are focused around specific dance clubs which, coincidentally, were focused around ParaPara and catered to Gyaru.((:fn:><cite>Velfarre 2000</cite>...Velfarre has a bunch actually. SEF is another one. If you're interested, the ParaPara wiki collects official club ParaPara productions.))

+This can be considered cherry-picking, I guess...but I legitimately think the association is stronger. And as time continues to go on, I feel this more and more strongly every day.
