 +**Halo** is a [[lb:the west|Western]] game franchise about a super-soldier who single-handedly beats up a highly religious and genocidal alien alliance. Also, there are weird floating rings that can kill everything.
 +===== Review =====
 +==== In General ====
 +<cite>Halo</cite> has a very pleasing aesthetic to me, though I can't easily articulate exactly what it is about <cite>Halo</cite> that I find so nice. Though this applies //up to// <cite>Halo Reach</cite> and doesn't really apply past it that much (with notable exceptions like <cite>Halo Legends</cite>).

 +I know the comparison will be strange, but I think it gives me a similar feeling to [[lb:legendarium]]. That might just be because I'm thinking about the <cite>Legendarium</cite> a lot though.

 +I played the PC version specifically to play the campaign and, after finishing it once, I think I finished it at least one other time. Though never on the hardest difficulties.
 +
 +Gameplay is pretty good in all the Halo games, so I won't comment much on that front.
 +
 +The story at this point in time is alright. I don't remember any particular issues with the story. Maybe the big one (though this isn't the fault of this game) is that <dfn>Sgt. Johnson</dfn> survives past this game, somehow.
 +==== Halo 3: ODST ====

 +This is among the few games where I actually finished the campaign. And it was pretty good.
 +
 +What I especially liked about <dfn>ODST</dfn> is that you're quite fragile, which means you've gotta think about how to approach situations (at least a little bit).

 +This is the other game that I actually played the campaign for. And the campaign I quite like.
 +
 +I prefer playing this game the most out of all of them due to the presence of firefight (1) and because of sprint being an ability (2).
 +
 +I also think that //this// is where the Halo aesthetic looks best. It still looks like Halo, just with a bit more detail. And not quite as cartoony as the other games. Honestly, I think the franchise should return to the look of this game.

 +Before I ever played the games...I ended up watching this. And multiple times too, so you can tell I quite like it.
 +
 +This can technically be considered the first anime I ever watched too, though I actually think <cite>Pokémon</cite> holds that position.
 +
 +<cite>Halo Legends</cite> is an anthology series and, as a result, each ‘episode’ differs quite a bit. I think my favorite is <cite>Homecoming</cite>, though <cite>Origins</cite> Parts 1 & 2 are probably the best (and they're my second-favorite). <cite>Homecoming</cite> actually has a few lore issues, though //all// the ‘episodes’ seem to have problems in that department.
 +===== Speculah & Analysis =====
 +==== Depiction of the Future? ====
 +I remembered that I once thought that Halo's world-building actually depicted a fairly accurate version of the future (setting aside all of humanity existing in one single state).
 +
 +<div passage>
 +This doesn't show up often because most of the series is presented to us thru a pure military perspective, with the <dfn>UNSC</dfn> operating with only one language and a clearly American aesthetic.((:fn:>Which makes a lot of sense if we consider that the American military is currently the most technologically advanced, most professional and the //largest//. It makes complete sense that a future supra-national military entity would derive or be heavily inspired by the Americans.)) But there are flashes that suggest the universe is more multicultural and multilingual than it appears at first.
 +
 +Most of <dfn>Reach</dfn> is //Hungarian// for example. Though that's the only major example I can think of.
