 **Tengwar** is a writing system created by [[lb:tolkien]] for his constructed languages. Probably initially for Quenya and Sindarin, but it was also used for English and, since, has been adapted to various other languages.

+Tengwar, on its own, is more like a template for scripts, rather than a script itself. It //does// have sounds assigned to the symbols, but those are more like suggestions. (I'm oversimplifying.)\\
+So, to actually write a language in Tengwar, you need to use a particular ‘mode’.
+Modes fall into two main categories: ‘full’ and ‘tehta’ modes. Or Quanta Sarmë and ómatehtar modes. The former represents vowels with dedicated letters, while the latter uses diacritics to represent vowels.\\
