アカメが斬(き)る！(Akame is killing!) is a show about a guy named Tatsumi who spends his free time in the company of ‘Night Raid’, a group of assassins who kill ‘evil’ people. The group is associated with revolutionaries, who want to overthrow the emperor.

While I thought the premise was interesting, I was under the impression we’d be watching the assassins kill people for the revolution…yeah, that’s not what ended up happening.
Once the Teigu/Artifacts are properly introduced, the show just becomes about 2 groups of superpowered murderers fighting for reasons. While I was disappointed, I did still enjoy myself.
…until we reach a certain episode…at which point the series goes completely insane and not in the good way. It’s actually impressive how bad it manages to get in such a short amount of time. The last few episodes are so bad that I’ve expelled them from my mind.

I don’t recommend watching the anime. Maybe the manga is better.
