It was pretty much just because the application I primarily used to track anime on my desktop – [[lb:taiga]] – could only be used with AniList and [[playground:kitsu]] when I started using it. MAL support has since returned, but by then I had been using AniList primarily for a long time.

 Like, sure, it looks ‘modern’ but that just makes me dislike using it more. Really, if it wasn't for Taiga, I'd probably have switched back over to MAL.

 Also, considering that AniList, MAL and Kitsu all have suspiciously similar datasets...yeah, I've always perceived them as a set of three different front-ends for the exact same data.
