I, robot

I, robot is a film from 2004 which is supposedly adapted from the work by Isaac Asimov but, in truth, doesn’t actually have much to do with it at all. The less you think about how they’re related, the better.

Review

I think there might be a few plot-holes and issues, though I can’t remember what they are.
Oh, right, a big one is that the antagonist is subject to the laws of robotics, but quite literally violates the first law of robotics in order to become an antagonist. The issue here is that a robot that violates the first law should end up freezing because it’s encountered a ‘paradox’…though this could also be commentary on the fact that robots wouldn’t necessarily possess human logic, so we can’t actually realistically predict how they’d interpret the laws of robotics. Whether this is a problem or not depends on whether you think the laws of robotics are actually iron-clad or not. I personally don’t think they are.

For 2004, the CG and special effects are really good. I was even convinced the film was released in 2008 at some point.

It’s a decent action film and if that’s all you desire, it’s good enough for that.
