I, robot
I, robot is a film from 2004 which is supposedly adapted from the work by Isaac Asimov but, in truth, doesnât actually have much to do with it at all. The less you think about how theyâre related, the better.
Review
I think there might be a few plot-holes and issues, though I canât remember what they are.
Oh, right, a big one is that the antagonist is subject to the laws of robotics, but quite literally violates the first law of robotics in order to become an antagonist. The issue here is that a robot that violates the first law should end up freezing because itâs encountered a âparadoxââŚthough this could also be commentary on the fact that robots wouldnât necessarily possess human logic, so we canât actually realistically predict how theyâd interpret the laws of robotics. Whether this is a problem or not depends on whether you think the laws of robotics are actually iron-clad or not. I personally donât think they are.
For 2004, the CG and special effects are really good. I was even convinced the film was released in 2008 at some point.
Itâs a decent action film and if thatâs all you desire, itâs good enough for that.
