Irony of Subjectivity

This is more of an opinion piece than an analysis and, by the time you’re reading this, it may already be classified as an opinion piece.

Something I have noticed among video essays related to storytelling is that the essayists tend to make very absolute statements on stories like this type of character is always bad whilst simultaneously claiming that stories are entirely subjective.
This is contradictory (obviously), as you cannot believe that something is always bad if you also believe that stories are entirely subjective and cannot be evaluated objectively.

Obviously, I know that this is just the influence of Post-Modernism on the analysis of storytelling, but it doesn’t make it any less irritating to hear.
Particularly when people such as myself end up getting criticized for arguing you can evaluate stories objectively and some things (Multiverse; time-travel) are bad in the majority of cases.
