世界(せかい)征服(せいふく) ~謀略(ぼうりゃく)のズヴィズダー~(World Conquest: Zvezda Plot!) is a show about a guy named Jimon Asuta who finds himself getting recruited by an ‘evil’ secret organization named Zvezda…which is led by a loli.
Zvezda’s goal is world conquest! However! Zvezda finds itself opposed by another secret organization of magical girls named White Light.

Zvezda is a simple and fun comedy. I don’t think I’d call it a masterpiece…though I personally really like it. This show actually has one of my favorite jokes ever…I’m not saying which one.

I didn’t realize it at first, but I think Zvezda is a parody/subversion of magical girl anime…which parodies it by following the ‘bad guys’ for once. I think the reason I didn’t notice is because I hadn’t watched any magical girl anime until sailor moon.

The worldbuilding in this series is hilarious due to how bizarre and mysterious it is. You gradually learn more about it as the anime goes on. Two of the highlights are the fact udo, a vegetable, is a source of power and smokers canonically don’t have souls.

Zvezda also reminds me of stuff I had watched when I was a child…though I can’t think of anything specific. It’s just that it feels very nostalgic.
