Buddhism
Buddhism is an East Asian religion that originated in India after a guy came to the conclusion feelings are lame. After spreading through India, it ended up spreading outside of India…then it died off in India.
No biggie though, because by then it had spread to China and South-East Asia. China was initially quite enthusiastic about it, but eventually came to the conclusion it was kinda lame but still okay I guess. From China it spread to Korea and then Japan.
Japan loved Buddhism so much that it became the de-facto national religion, merging with the native faith of Shinto. It was unmerged during the Meiji Restoration. Despite that, most Japanese who are Buddhist are also Shinto, and most who are Shinto are also Buddhist. Religion is weird like that in East Asia.
