Trick
ăăȘăăŻ(Trick) is a Japanese live-action franchise about an unsuccessful magician and a physicist who go around solving cases involving supernatural shenanigansâŠwhich turn out to just be people exploiting magic tricks. Itâs both strange and incredibly good.
Reviews
Iâll quickly note here that I stopped watching the series after finishing the first special due to encountering a bit of an issueâŠbut I fully intend to finish it at some point.
This review is focused on the series in general because I perceive it as a whole.
SoâŠIâll write that later.
I had planned to write a review of the series in general, but decided to leave that until much later. Probably when I actually return to the series.
I will return to this fairly soon. So? What happened? I returned to the series as promised. More specifically, I started re-watching it with my brother (who was watching it for the first time). After finishing the parts I had seen, we moved onto the parts I hadnât seen yet. So now Iâve finished the whole thing.
Overall, I would say the following (which I will re-work into a more pleasant form later):
- The series is overall pretty (very) good.
- Some of the mysteries are unfortunately left unresolved, and some threads are left abandoned.
- Some of the jokes are predictable and can be repetitive, but I wouldnât say the comedy gets stale.
- The actual series is fairly episodic, which is why I noted some threads are left unresolved. The actual over-arching plot that was being hinted at is just kinda not dealt with.
- Despite the issues, the ending is very nice and satisfactory.
I do have a few personal issues with the series. From the second season onward, Yamadaâs outfit remains basically exactly the same thruout the rest of the series. This annoys me a little, because I actually liked to see the various outfits she had in that first season. Itâs also a really odd thing to do.
I thought there were more, but then I couldnât think of any more.
Trivilinks
- Nope.
